If your child in San Diego, CA, qualifies for pediatric speech therapy based on traditional qualifying criteria. In this case, we will provide one-on-one services to your child via a traditional model. Average sessions run a clinical hour. You may use our services as additional therapy if your child already receives speech-language therapy sessions at another location. Babble Better can be the primary service provider if no other services are in place. We specialize in many areas of need, including but not limited to the following:

One-on-one sessions between clients and SLPs via a secure connection on the Internet. This is a good option when leaving the home is a challenge or distance is a deterrent. You or your child may receive traditional or indirect speech therapy sessions via this model, accessed on a laptop. One-on-one “informal” assistance with learning language strategies. You simply want your child to learn skills and strategies to improve communication. With this option, you either don’t want to complete a full evaluation, or your child does not qualify to receive speech/language services formally. Parents understand that it is NOT traditional speech-language therapy but is provided by a Speech-Language Pathologist. No diagnosis or prior evaluation is necessary. Again, NO formal evaluation of speech/language skills occurs, only baseline data in order to track improvement. You choose this option because your child may speak multiple languages, have difficulty thinking of words to say, or you may want to prepare your child early to “get ahead.”
In most school districts, children have to score below the 7th percentile or fall 1.5 standard deviations below the mean to qualify for services. Therefore, your child may have a delay or a need in which they would benefit from intervention, but the school district would not consider them as qualifying for services if they do not score below these numbers. Direct speech-language therapy, which we also offer, would be the best choice to address your child’s needs since they already do qualify for services.
An examination of your child’s speech/language skills based on traditional evaluation procedures. If your child does not have a prior evaluation within one year of requesting traditional speech/language therapy, the child will need an evaluation before beginning the program, or sessions would take place as the “Informal Direct” option.
